Dr. John Haas
Dr. John M. Haas is the President of The National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia, which was founded to apply the Church’s teachings to ethical issues in medicine, the life sciences and civil law. He is also the President of the International Institute for Culture in Philadelphia, which he founded to promote international understanding through cultural means and to assist the re-evangelization of society. He was recently appointed an ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy for Life by Pope Benedict XVI.

Before assuming the presidency of the bioethics center, he was the John Cardinal Krol Professor of Moral Theology at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Adjunct Professor at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies in Marriage and the Family, Washington, D.C. He was the producer and host of the St. Charles Forum shown on EWTN, author of articles and books ranging from the role of the laity in the Church, to sexual morality, social justice issues and bio-ethics and has lectured extensively on an international scope.

Dr. Haas received his Ph.D. in Moral Theology from The Catholic University of America and his S.T.L. in Moral Theology from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He also has a Master of Divinity degree and has studied at the University of Munich and the University of Chicago Divinity School.

Dr. Haas, his wife, Martha, nine children and thirteen grandchildren live in Philadelphia.
