Steve Pokorny
Steve was born on August 5, 1979 in Mayfield Hts., Ohio, and grew up in South Euclid, Ohio. He attended Syracuse University for one year (majoring in acting), then transferred to Borromeo Seminary and John Carroll University (Cleveland) to discern a call to priesthood. Following graduation in 2001, he entered St. Mary’s Seminary, where he realized that God was calling him to pursue another avenue.

In 2002, after being given a tape by Christopher West, Steve was introduced to John Paul the Great’s Theology of the Body. This shattered the way he viewed God, sexuality, and love, which would shape his outlook on life forever. By God’s grace, Steve was delivered from many sexual wounds. These two life-changing events inspired him to begin an intensive study of John Paul’s text and various associated materials.

In 2003, he moved to Steubenville, Ohio to attend Franciscan University in pursuit of an M.A. in Theology and specialization in catechetics. In the spring of 2005, he studied at the Angelicum in Rome while traveling Western Europe extensively. Upon returning from these journeys, Steve completed his degree in August of 2005. He attended the Theology of the Body Institute in 2004 and 2005, where he was trained to deliver an introductory seminar on the Theology of the Body, a day-long event that breaks open this awesome vision for humanity. Since then he has delivered multiple talks on related topics in a variety of locations.

In addition to being a fulltime student in the MTS Program at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Washington, D.C., Steve currently is the coordinator of Catholic Exchange’s Theology of the Body channel, as well as the director of TOB Ministries, which is devoted to the work of fulfilling John Paul the Great’s dream of seeing the Culture of Life blossom into reality.
